In English we use the present continuous to describe this action, while Spanish uses a similar form made up of the verb estar + the gerund ( gerundio a.k.a. ![]() (continuous/ongoing) 2b) I built a house.ġa denotes a habitual action and is interpreted to mean that someone has been attending class regularly for some time.Ģa denotes a continuous action, which has occurred in the past but is still ongoing. (habitual) 1b) I attended class.Ģa) I am building a house. Consider the difference in meaning between the following examples:ġa) I have been attending class / I used to attend class. In English, we often use “have been” or “used to” to denote that an action is continuous (“progressive”), ongoing, or habitual. English still expresses these important distinctions, but often with a combination of verb tenses and extra auxiliary verbs.Īs we are focusing on the preterite in this guide, we will illustrate what a “completed” action means by contrasting it with an “ongoing” action. Spanish past tense forms allow speakers to use a convenient verb ending to express for how long an action occurred, whether it is habitual, or whether it was completed. However, English speakers should be careful not to overuse the preterite when other Spanish past tense forms would be more appropriate, such as the imperfect for ongoing actions. The preterite form of past tense should feel familiar to English speakers, as it is very similar to the English simple past tense (jump + -ed = jumped). Verb Preterite Stem Irregular Endings ser & ir fu- él fue, ellos fueron estar estuv- yo estuve, tu estuviste, él estuvo, nosotros estuvimos, vosotros estuvisteis, ellos estuvieron tener tuv- yo tuve, él tuvo poder pud- yo pude, él pudo hacer hic- (most subjects), hiz- (third person singular) yo hice, él hizo poner pus- yo puse, él puso decir dij- yo dije, él dijo ver vi- yo vi, él vio querer quis- yo quise, él quiso If you’re not familiar with these verbs, here are 50 common irregular preterite Spanish verbs to get you started.Īnother interesting phenomenon to note is that the ser and ir preterite conjugations are identical. ![]() Irregular verb conjugations take some memorization.įortunately, many of the most common irregular preterite verbs follow patterns, consisting of a new stem and different endings for a few subjects. Irregular Preterite VerbsĪll regular verbs can be transformed into the preterite tense easily. See our guide on Spanish pronouns if you need to brush up on the subject pronouns found in the “Person” category above. Adding temporal expressions such as ayer (yesterday) helps speakers distinguish when something took place. Note that the nosotros form is the same as the present tense form. Person Verbs ending in -ar Verbs ending in -er and -ir yo -é -í tú -aste -iste él, ella, usted -ó -ió nosotros -amos -imos vosotros -asteis -isteis ellos, ellas, ustedes -aron -ieron To form the preterite in Spanish with regular verbs, remove the -ar, -ir, or -er and add the appropriate ending from the chart below. Spanish verbs come in three categories ( -ar, -ir, and - er) and change (“conjugate”) according to who performed it and when the action occurred. The preterite is used to describe actions which have been completed. There are a few different ways that the stem vowel can change. The Spanish preterite tense is one of five forms used to describe actions or events that occurred in the past. However, the stem does not change in the nosotros or vosotros forms of the verb. ![]() In stem-changing verbs, the stem vowel of the verb changes in the present tense. These verbs are also referred to as “radical changing verbs”, which means “stem” or “root” in Spanish.

7/24/2023 0 Comments Bedroom colors for moods![]() It gives off a tone of compassion, spirituality, peace, and flexibility. Blue is surprisingly warm, although it is a cool-toned color. We’re starting off this list with the most popular color of all. You need a color that’s going to help you feel good each and every day. The bedroom is the most important room for your mind as it is the first one you see when you wake up and the last one you look at when you fall asleep every day. This can affect the mind, emotions, and even your energy levels in a number of ways.īelow, we’re going to talk about some of the psychological ways that these different bedroom paint colors can influence your mood, mind, and energy. One reason is because we live on a blue planet, and blue is associated with pure water and clear skies.Īnother reason is that the brain actually emits certain hormones when responding to different colors. There are many reasons why people tend to respond positively to shades of blue. For example, the most common favorite color in the world is blue. What’s your favorite color? While everyone has a certain color they like the most, there are some colors that are just overall more popular than others. And the same thing goes for the color yellow. “I always caution clients that red can actually raise your blood pressure,” Kennon explains. But when it comes to these warmer colors, especially in the bedroom, try to avoid brighter and harsher hues that can have adverse effects on your mood. The rosy terracotta color promotes balance and unity while still emitting cheer and warmth. It’s a color that Hayes Town created on the spot for the conference room at the Steele Burden Memorial Orangerie.” “Redwood Rose” “I have a client for whom I created a special color for that I call ‘Redwood Rose,'” Kennon says, “We named it after her home, which was a 1969 Hayes Town house. After all, color is all about how you want to feel in a space. While Kennon typically favors the pale blue and cool tones, that’s not to say that warmer colors cannot work well. I call it organic in that it works really well with wood tints.” “Gustavian Grey” “One of my most popular colors in that range for bedrooms is what I call ‘Gustavian Grey,'” says Kennon. She notes that adding the touch of green to blue creates an aqua color that is not only soothing, but also refreshing at the same time. ![]() In addition to pale blues, Kennon also enjoys working with blue-greens for bedrooms. “It has a little bit of magenta in it, so it’s a little more periwinkle, but very, very subtle.” “Alexandra Blue” “My own bedroom is painted in ‘Alexandra Blue,’ which is a very atmospheric, subtle blue the color of the sky at twilight,” says Kennon. Like the colors of the sky and the sea, natural blue tones are extremely soothing. “And then anything that borders on blue and green.”īlue is known as the Florence Nightingale color because of its ability to induce sleep and even reduce inflammation. “The best bedroom colors that I like to use often are anything in the pale blue range,” she explains. Old Man Winter and Possession return, but newcomers Ironsides (lets you use a shield to collect bullets fired at you as ammo) and Peeping Tom (allows you to see enemies through walls) add new layers of combat. This wouldn’t be Bioshock without plasmids, and Burial at Sea: Episode 2 has plenty of new ones for you to use. Mixing these methods up helps make exploring the bowels of Rapture quietly as exciting as ever. Tranquilizer darts knock out enemies, Noisemakers can lure enemies to a specific location, and Gas darts can be fired at a group to incapacitate them all at once. ![]() Theoretically, Elizabeth’s approach is one of non-violence (when you aren’t using guns), so all of the ammunition for the crossbow is non-lethal, but I still found myself using it more than any other weapon. But the real fun is with the crossbow that Elizabeth can use to dispatch her enemies silently. She can still fire a shotgun, magnum, or machine gun with ease, and the newly introduced Radar Range returns as well, allowing you to explode enemies with a powerful blast of microwave energy. While stealth is a big factor in Episode 2, that isn’t to say Elizabeth will be without her fair share of powers or guns to handle. The revelation at the end left me speechless for quite some time, and it is a true testament to Irrational Games that stellar storytelling and thoughtful characters can still make a huge impact in today’s gaming market. Of course, the real beauty of Burial At Sea Episode 2 comes with the ultimate conclusion of the Bioshock storylines, and how everything from the original to Infinite are connected to one another. ![]() The dilapidated hallways filled with running water and darkened corners are perfect to mask the sounds of your footsteps. It is this style of gameplay that has never been seen before in Bioshock, and it fits perfectly with the mood and setting of Rapture. Since Elizabeth no longer has her tear ability (you will find out why) or the ability to scrounge up loose ammo or coins, her journey through Rapture is much more fragile than Booker’s, with her often resorting to the shadows and avoiding combat to successfully uncover what lies at the end of Rapture. But while the first episode put players solely in the shoes of Booker as he tried to uncover the secrets of Rapture and who Sally really is, Episode 2 allows players to control Elizabeth as they sneak their way through Rapture with new plasmids and a much more approachable and enjoyable story. What Is It?īioshock Infinite: Burial At Sea Episode 2 is the continuation of the alternate story of Booker and Elizabeth as they venture into a pre-ravaged form of Rapture as they search for a Little Sister named Sally. The perfect swan song for Irrational Games and proof that fan service can still be present even with the inevitability of a company closure. The story flawlessly blends together with the first two games while giving fans a chance to control Elizabeth and explore Rapture in a different light. But while Episode 1 faltered a bit for being too repetitive and predictable, Episode 2 delivers one of the best add-ons for Bioshock in years. Kevin Levine and his team have always delivered quality fan service and with the first episode of Burial at Sea, fans got to return to Rapture and follow Booker as he fought off enemy splicers (and Big Daddies) in search of a missing girl. Suggest you lay in supplies at the Manta Ray Lounge and prepare for a siege. With the stunning announcement of Irrational Games closing down, many questions were left unanswered about the future of Bioshock and where the series will head in the future. While it didn't live up to claims of being "thick sliced bacon", I found the excellent flavor to more than compensate. I really like the complexity of taste, adding in the soy sauce, honey and garlic, to create a diversity of flavors. This Sweet Sriracha Uncured Bacon Jerky from Trader Joe's seems to deliver on all three marketed flavors: gobs of sticky sweet, lots of spicy Thai sriracha sauce, and the classic goodness of bacon. This is more like the thin sliced bacon you'd find at a breakfast buffet. Despite the package claiming, "thick, flavorful uncured bacon", it's hardly thick. The meat consistency is just like regular bacon on the breakfast table, but cooked somewhere in between soft and crispy. I'd say it's a little less heat than straight sriracha sauce, but still enough to register as "medium hot" (level 4 out of 5) on my personal heat scale. But there's a light soy sauce that becomes noticeable, and by the time you finish chewing the garlic shows up.Īs for the heat, it's fairly hot. The sriracha sauce flavor comes in just as you start chewing, and at one point takes over the palate. Otherwise, the flavors that define this jerky starts with the classic flavor of bacon, but with a lot of sweet added. You're definitely getting your money's worth if you want bacon with sweetened sriracha sauce. ![]() But it's also very much a bacon jerky, with the classic bacon flavor, aroma, and chewing. But the unique taste of sriracha sauce is pretty well defined too. It's quite sweet for one, with shades of honey flavor. There's a light sriracha flavor coming in, mixed with some soy sauce, along with a tangy character. The first flavors to his my palate is a strong sweetness. Natural uncured bacon - no nitrates or nitrites added except for those naturally occurring in celery powder and & sea salt (pork, water, lactic acid starter culture ), white sugar, sriracha sauce, gluten free soy sauce, water, honey, cayenne powder, granulated garlic, ground pepper, sea salt, red wine vinegar, ginger. 7/23/2023 0 Comments Aortic arch pictureThe examination was initiated 4 seconds after the attenuation of a region of interest positioned in the ascending aorta reached 150 Hounsfield units (HU). Multidetector CT angiography examinations were performed with a 16-row MDCT (LightSpeed Ultra, GE Healthcare, Milwaukee, WI). Although MR angiography may show vascular anomalies, the technique does not provide sufficient information regarding the esophagus and trachea. However, the method is time-consuming and may require the need for prolonged sedation in pediatric patients. ![]() Magnetic resonance (MR) angiography is an alternative non-invasive tool without the need for contrast material or radiation exposure. Disadvantages of the use of MDCT angiography, especially in pediatric patients, are the necessity to use iodinated contrast medium as well as an increase in patient radiation exposure. The advantage of the use of MDCT angiography is that the modality is a noninvasive technique that enables evaluation of vascular anomalies and the status of tracheal or esophageal compression in the same study ( 2, 3). Multidetector computed tomography (MDCT) angiography has recently become a principal diagnostic method for the assessment of thoracic aortic abnormalities. A congenital anomaly of the aortic arch is usually an incidental radiological finding in asymptomatic patients, except when the anomaly constitutes a vascular ring that is formed when the abnormally patterned arch vessels completely encircle the trachea and esophagus ( 1). Congenital anomalies of the aortic arch are uncommon and may be associated with other congenital cardiovascular diseases. To do this right click and click separate audio. This increased responsibility is one of the major reasons why comprehensive training in this area is crucial. All that wastage could have been avoided if the maintenance worker had been able to accurately read the electrical prints in the first place. This can cost valuable resources and time. If this happens, you have to source for another professional to figure out what the problem is, and then fix it. It can also result in the development of a new issue and can bring done the whole electrical system, putting occupants of the building at risk of having elevators and HVAC units become useless. Errant sparks and electrical fires become major risks. Inability of the maintenance worker to appropriately read electrical prints can bring frustrations. This means understanding locations of circuits and outlets and the correlation that exists. In diagnosing problems and ensuring that all components are working properly, maintenance workers are required to understand the print down to the last detail in order to follow the instructions exactly and proficiently. Maintenance work may involve fixing or replacing major parts, motors, control systems, light fixtures, and other items in the electrical system. It can be difficult for a maintenance worker to understand where different components are located, especially in large buildings and some of the affected components are difficult to reach. Maintaining electrical equipment and systems involves troubleshooting problems and repairing broken equipment. Installation of electronic systems is less complicated than the maintenance part of it. Why Maintenance Workers Need to Know How to Read Blueprints As such, interpreting the plans and understanding what the prints are saying can be difficult to those who lack comprehensive print reading training. To read electrical blueprints one must understand the flow of the circuit, identify critical nodes, understand Ohm’s Law, and have a deep comprehension of the National Electrical Code. You may know that the inverter is represented by a triangular symbol but if you don’t know what follows after that, you don’t really have an idea of how the system is structured.ĭetails like wire or cable specifications belong elsewhere in a separate documentation. It can be easy to look up the diagram but wrapping your head around the actual meaning is a little harder. ![]() The symbols do not look anything like the components they represent and the lines may not resemble the actual physical layout of the components. In some cases, a line can run between components without being connected to any of the components. Each electronic component has a symbol and the connection between specific component terminals is represented by the lines. Many individuals find it difficult to read and understand electrical blueprints, mainly because the prints just show lines and symbols. Reading Electrical Prints Can Be Difficult Should there be a problem with the building’s electrical system, the electrical print will help maintenance technicians to troubleshoot and fix the problem. ![]() These components include wires, light switches, receptacles, wires, light fixtures and any other stuff that will be electrically powered.
